The other day, the Spirit impressed upon my mind that we are seeing the opening scenes of the story of Alma, who served under King Noah.  He was converted by Abinadi's testimony, and fled from the Kings soldiers.  While he hid in a thicket near the waters of Mormon, he taught the Gospel to some of Noah's people.  They are guided to another place, where they prosper and have joy in living a worshipful life.  Sometime later, they are discovered by the King's soldiers and brought under captivity.  They are forbidden to pray, so they prayed in their hearts as heavy burdens were placed upon them.  They are freed by the Lord after a period of time, when He causes the wicked guards to fall asleep.  The people of Alma take their journey and arrive at Zarahemla.  Alma re=establishes the gospel and church among the Nephites, and is authorized, by the King, to do that work.  In the last sentence of the Book of Mosiah, in speaking of Alma's death, it states, "...thus ended the days of Alma, who was the founder of their church."

I was taught to consider these things at type and shadow of what is happening with Chief David Midegah.  He has said that he was a wicked man. Now, we see him going among the people and preaching the word of God, to those who will listen.

I am excited at the world that is unfolding!  The Prophets of all time, have looked forward to the events we are experiencing.  I am reminded that the Nemenhah people did not have fear when there were earthquakes, great upheavals, and darkness when Jesus was crucified.  They rejoiced because it was the sign that He would come to visit them.  While the Nephites to the South quivered in fear at the great death and destruction among them, the more righteous Nemenhah rejoiced, and lived.

What sign are we looking forward to, wherein we would have cause to rejoice?

It is found in Revelation 6 and 7:

12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,

3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

5 Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand.

6 Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand.

7 Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand.

8 Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.

9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.

11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,

12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.

13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?

14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.

16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.

17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Having a great earthquake, the stars fall, the moon turn to blood, and the wicked hiding in rocks and cracks to hide from the Creator, are our signs before the second coming of the Lord.  So, also, is the Servant who will gather the righteous and build up the Kingdom.  I pray we will be the ones who rejoice for the coming of the Lord is nigh.
