The Wicked World of Enoch: A Replay in the these Last Days

In the last week, I have pondered the events prophesied to come upon the world in these last days. I’ve also been watching the news that seems to be increasing regarding outer space aliens, and transhumanism. The former topic was the subject of recent Congressional Hearings. I tripped over the following portion of Hugh Nibley’s book, “The Wicked World of Enoch,” which is available on the church website (

As I read the fascinating passage below, I began to see amazing and somewhat alarming parallels to our day. Added to that, are the prophetic words that indicate that something like these things that Enoch and his people dealt with, will unfold again, making their experience a type and a shadow and a warning to us.

One specific section the book of Revelation weighed heavily upon my mind:

12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

Most of my life, I expected this was describing the beginning of the earth. Yet, there are two indicators that it also applies to the last days. First, in verse 10, “for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.” Remember Job was accused. This passage would not be relevant in the beginning. Then, we are told in verse 12 that “the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.” Short time reveals the Last Days timing of this portion of the prophesy. Are not the “Sons of God” otherwise known as the Nephilim, going to again cause an uproar as they did in the days of Enoch?

As you read, see if you feel any application of these long ago events, to the things we are and will see in our day.

The Wicked World of Enoch
The Return of the Book of Enoch, Part 8

By Hugh Nibley

…The wickedness of Enoch’s day had a special stamp and flavor; only the most determined and entrenched depravity merited the extermination of the race. In apocryphal Enoch stories we are told how humanity was led to the extremes of misconduct under the tutelage of uniquely competent masters. According to these traditions, these were none other than special heavenly messengers who were sent down to earth to restore respect for the name of God among the degenerate human race but instead yielded to temptation, misbehaved with the daughters of men, and ended up instructing and abetting their human charges in all manner of iniquity. They are variously designated as the Watchers, Fallen Angels, Sons of God, Nephilim, or Rephaim, and are sometimes confused with their offspring, the Giants. Other candidates for this dubious honor have been suggested by various scholars, the trouble being that more than one category of beings qualify as Fallen Angels and spectacular sinners before the time of the Flood. The Bible uses the title sons of God—were they different from the Watchers of tradition?

“The sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

“There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare … to them … mighty men, … men of renown.

“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth.” (Gen. 6:2, 4–5.)

The idea of intercourse between heavenly and earthly beings was widespread in ancient times. Thus, in the newly discovered Genesis Apocryphon, when Lamech’s wife bears him a superchild (Noah), he assumes almost as a matter of course that the father is “one of the angels” and accuses her of faithlessness until his grandfather, Enoch, whose “lot is with the Holy Ones” and who lives far away, clears up the misunderstanding. Significantly, the name of the child’s mother is Bit-enosh, i.e., she is one of the “daughters of men.” The Cedrenus fragment avoids the problem of heavenly origin by identifying the sons of God and the daughters of men with the descendants of Seth and Cain respectively, and he specifically designates the sons of God as the Watchers. Recently M. Emanueli has suggested that the various terms are merely “a figure of speech in order to express the depth of the deterioration of that generation.”

While the sons of God have been identified with both angels and the Watchers, the Greek Enoch does not identify the Watchers with Satan’s hosts who fell from heaven from the beginning—they are another crowd. It is the Joseph Smith Enoch which gives the most convincing solution: the beings who fell were not angels but men who had become sons of God. From the beginning, it tells us, mortal men could qualify as “sons of God,” beginning with Adam. “Behold, thou [Adam] art one in me, a son of God; and thus may all become my sons.” (Moses 6:68; italics added.) How? By believing and entering the covenant. “Our father Adam taught these things, and many have believed, and become the sons of God.” (Moses 7:1.) Thus when “Noah and his sons hearkened unto the Lord, and gave heed … they were called the sons of God.” (Moses 8:13.) In short, the sons of God are those who accept and live by the law of God. When “the sons of men” (as Enoch calls them) broke their covenant, they still insisted on that exalted title: “Behold, we are the sons of God; have we not taken unto ourselves the daughters of men?” (Moses 8:21), even as “the sons of men,” reversing the order, married the daughters of those “called the sons of God,” thereby forfeiting their title, “for,” said God to Noah, “they will not hearken to my voice.” (Moses 8:15.) The situation was, then, that the sons of God, or their daughters who had been initiated into a spiritual order, departed from it and broke their vows, mingling with those who observed only a carnal law.

“Why have you left heaven [and] the Exalted One,” says Enoch in a Gizeh fragment “and … with the daughters of men defiled yourselves? … Ye have behaved as sons of Earth and begotten to yourselves giant sons. And you were once holy, spiritual, eternal beings … and have lusted after the flesh … as do mortal and perishable creatures.”

What made the world of Enoch so singularly depraved as to invite total obliteration was the deliberate and systematic perversion of heavenly things to justify wickedness. An early Christian writer, Hippolytus, says that the Anti-Christ imitates Christ in every particular: each sends out his apostles, gives his seal to believers, does signs and wonders, claims the temple as his own, has his own church and assembly, etc. Such is the method of “the great Deceiver of the World,” against whom, says Hippolytus, “Enoch and Elias have warned us.” We are reminded how Satan put forth his claim, “I am also a son of God” (Moses 5:13), and commanded Cain to “make an offering unto the Lord” (Moses 5:18–19) and to take his oaths “by the living God” (Moses 5:29), as if everything were still in the proper order. In the same spirit Noah’s descendants in their wickedness still insisted that nothing had changed:

(Moses 8:21.) “The children of men said to Noah: Behold, we are the sons of God; have we not taken unto ourselves the daughters of men?”

The apocrypha agree:

(Black, p. 44, 106:7, 13–14.) “For in the days of Jared my father, they departed from the teaching of the Lord, from the covenant of heaven. And behold they commit sin and reject [parabainousin] the proper way [ethos] … and beget children not like spiritual but like carnal offspring.”

Sophisticated deception is the name of the game. “Woe unto you who deliberately go astray [poiountes planemata],” cries Enoch, “who promote yourselves to honor and glory by deceitful practices. … Who misapply and misinterpret straightforward statements, who have given a new twist to the everlasting Covenant, and then produce arguments to prove that you are without guilt!” Cold-blooded calculation is the keynote. The “Watchers” (using the Greek word) led away “myriads of myriads … with our Prince Satan-el,” says the Slavonic Enoch, “and defiled the earth by their acts. And the wives [instead of daughters!] of men did a great evil, violating the law … a great iniquity.” “For in the secret places of the earth,” we read in a very early Judeo-Christian source, “they were doing evil … and all of them committed adultery with their neighbor’s wives; and they made solemn covenants among themselves concerning these things.” Such practices went back to the days of Cain:

Moses 5:52. The Lord cursed … all them that had covenanted with Satan; for they kept not the commandments of God. Moses 5:29. And Satan said unto Cain: Swear unto me … and swear thy brethren … that they tell it not; for if they tell it, they shall surely die. Moses 5:51. For, from the days of Cain, there was a secret combination, and their works were in the dark, and they knew every man his brother.Gizeh 6:2. The Sons of Heaven wished to break their covenants and join with the daughters of men, but Seimizas [Satan] said ‘I am afraid you will not be willing to go through with this thing.’ 4. And they answered him all, saying, We will all swear with an oath, and bind each other by a mortal curse [lit., anathemize each other], that we will not go back on this agreement [gnome] until we have carried it out; 5. Then they all swore together and pronounced the doom of death on each other.
Moses 5:29–30. Satan said unto Cain: Swear unto me by thy throat, and if thou tell it thou shalt die; and swear thy brethren by their heads, and by the living God, that they tell it not; for if they tell it, they shall surely die; and this that thy father may not know it. … And all these things were done in secret.1 En. 29:13. Kasbeel, the chief of the oath … when he dwelt above in glory 14. … requested Michael to show him the hidden name, that he might enunciate in the oath, so that those might quake before that name and oath who revealed all that was secret to the children of men. 1 En. 69:1. It was Gadreel who showed the children of men all the blows of death, and he led astray Eve.
Moses 5:16. And Adam and Eve … ceased not to call upon God. … But behold, Cain hearkened not, saying: Who is the Lord that I should know him? Moses 5:51. For, from the days of Cain, there was a secret combination, and their works were in the dark.Ethiop. Bk. Mysts. PO 4:431. “In the days of Cain evil and deceitful practices increased. The wicked angels set themselves up in open and insolent opposition to Adam, and glorying in their earthly bodies learned a great sin, and openly exposed all the work which they had seen in heaven.

And so we find in a Greek Enoch text the Great Angels returning from earth to report to God that they had found “Azael teaching all manner of unrighteousness upon the earth, and he has laid bare those mysteries of the age which belong to heaven, which are [now] known and practiced among men; and also Semiazas is with him, he to whom thou gavest authority [over] those who go along with him.”

As bad as breaking their oaths was divulging them to those not worthy to receive them, thereby debasing and invalidating them. One of the most widespread themes of myth and legend is the tragedy of the hero who yields to the charms of a fair maiden or femme fatale and ends up revealing to her hidden mysteries. The story meets us in the oldest Egyptian epic (where the lady Isis wheedles out of Re the fatal knowledge of his true name) and in like tales of Samson and Delilah, the daughter of Jared, Lohengrin, etc., in which the woman is the Pandora who must know what is in the box. On this theme the Gizeh fragments offer a significant parallel to the Joseph Smith version, in which the common background of the text and the confusion of the later scribes are equally apparent:

(Moses 5:53.) “Lamech had spoken the secret unto his wives, and they … declared these things abroad, and had not compassion. … Moses 5:55. And thus … darkness began to prevail among all the sons of men.”

Compare this to:

(Gizeh 16:2–4.) “And now concerning the Watchers, say to them. You were in heaven and there you knew every mysterion which had not been made known to you as well as that mystery which God allowed; and that you disclosed to your wives in the hardness of your heart, and it was through this mystery that women and men caused iniquities to abound upon the earth.”

Clement of Alexandria attributed to Musaeus, the founder of the Greek Mysteries, an account of “how the angels lost their heavenly heritage through the telling of the secret things [mysteria] to women,” things, Clement observes, “which the other angels keep secret or quietly perform until the coming of the Lord.”

Rather surprisingly, the age of Enoch is consistently described as the time of great intellectual as well as material sophistication. “Azael … taught [men] to make knives and breastplates and all kinds of military hardware; and to work the ores of the earth, and how gold was to be worked and made into ornaments for women; and he showed them silver and taught them polishing [eye-paint] and cosmetics and precious stones and dyes. And the sons and daughters of men adopted all these things and led the saints astray. And there was great wickedness on the earth, and they became perverted and lost in all their ways. Along with that their leader Semiazas taught them scientific formulas (epaodas kata tou nous), and the properties of roots and plants of the earth. The eleventh, Pharmakos, taught all manner of drugs, incantations, prescriptions, formulas. [Others] taught them star-gazing, astrology, meteorology, geology, the signs of the sun and moon. All of these began to reveal the mysteries to their wives and children.”

The leaders of the people devoted most of their wealth to “all kinds of engineering projects for controlling and taming nature. But the Lord altered the order of creation, making the sun rise in the west and set in the East,” so that all their plans came to naught. The idea of controlling the environment independently of God “was not as foolish as it sounds,” says the Zohar, “for they knew all the arts … and all the ruling principles [archons] governing the world, and on this knowledge they relied, until at length God disabused them by restoring the earth to its primal state and covering it with water.” Rabbi Isaac reports: In the days of Enoch even children were acquainted with these mysterious arts (the advanced sciences). R. Yesa asks: With all that knowledge could they not foresee destruction? To which R. Isaac replies: They knew, all right, but they thought they were just smart enough to prevent it. What they did not know was that God rules the world. … He gave them respite as long as the righteous men Jared, Methuselah and Enoch were alive: but when they departed from the world, God let the punishment descend … and they were blotted out from the earth.

A Book of Mormon text betrays the Enoch tradition (possibly contained in the brass plates) in a transparent parallel:

(2 Ne. 26:29.) “Priestcrafts are that men … set themselves up for a light unto the world, that they may get gain and praise of the world; but they seek not the welfare of Zion.”

Compare this to:

(Zohar. Beresh. 25b.) “These men [of Enoch’s time] erected synagogues and colleges, and placed in them scrolls and rich ornaments … but they did it to set themselves up for a light, and for the honors of men; and in such a way the powers of evil prevail over Israel.”

Power and gain are two faces of one coin: “We are able to do whatever we please,” said the people in Enoch’s day, “because we are very rich!” To which Enoch replied: “You are wrong! Your riches will soon depart from you …”; but they went on seeking the power of gain more grimly than ever.

An interesting connection emerges in the account of how “in the time of Enoch they committed murder, shedding of blood of the children of men; they enslaved them, they sold what did not belong to them, they entered homes without right, and took whatever they wanted … they rigged the laws in their favor, and imitated the abominable deeds of the rebellious angels of a former time in which, when Abel tried to check them they encompassed his death by a conspiracy.” For this confirms a bold statement found in the Doctrine and Covenants 84:16: “Abel … was slain by [a] conspiracy.” [D&C 84:16] Ambition was the motivating force in all this evil. “The giants,” says Ben Sira 16:7, “were aspiring spirits who desired to be great in the manner of God on earth”; E. Kraeling has pointed out that the biblical term “men of name,” means “men who aspired to be great, ‘to make a name’ for themselves.” The Slavonic Enoch version matches the book of Moses in taking us back to the beginning of the matter:

Almost all our sources, and especially the Joseph Smith book of Enoch, emphasize the point that the people did not drift imperceptibly into ways of folly. They were so constantly warned that only a high and determined willfulness brought destruction upon them:

Ancient Native American Prophecy of New Scripture in a Time of Great Refreshing

There is a Native American book of scripture that was miraculously revealed in the last 20 years. It is called the Ayahtkuhyaht Nemenhah. Within the covers of this remarkable volume, there is an important prophetic word, which is very relevant for our day.

First Book of Tsi-Tuhgohhah 14:20-23

But I do exhort you, all who would receive my words, make good advantage of the knowledge of the works of the Ahmohnayhah, and strive also to do like unto them. For I know, by testimony of the Haymehnay (Holy Ghost) that has been given unto me, that you shall not have received these things, to ponder them in your hearts, except you do receive them in the time of great need.

Yea, it has been revealed unto me that my writing shall only arise from the dust in a time of great refreshing, and in a time of greatest necessity. Wherefore, take not these things lightly. Howbeit, they may be the means of your salvation.

From Hero to Pretender in 20 Minutes

I have always considered Ezra Taft Benson a valiant and true Servant of the Lord in defending Liberty and the Constitution. It seems that I have referred to his quotes more often than almost any other Latter Day Prophet, aside from Joseph Smith. In studying the Constitution and the Saints destiny to uphold those Godly principles enshrined in that Sacred document, the preponderance of evidence I’ve gathered comes from President Ezra Taft Benson.

This week, my family sat down to watch a talk from Elder Benson in the April 1971 General Conference. It was titled “Civic Standards for the Faithful Saints.” I was excited to share his counsel with my children.

Part way through his address, he said, “Now the third great civic standard for the Saints is the inspired word of the prophets—particularly the living president, God’s mouthpiece on the earth today. Keep your eye on the captain and judge the words of all lesser authority by his inspired counsel.”

I was surprised and extremely disappointed in his statement, because the Prophet’s role is to point to Christ, yet here was an appointed Apostle pointing to the Prophet. According to the words of Christ, as contained in the Scriptures, we are to use those sacred records as a judge and guide. God preserved them for us, in our time, at great cost. Prophets such as Isaiah and Joseph Smith laid down their lives to lay before us these words of God.

Elder Benson later contradicted his 3rd great civic standard when he said, “We live in an age of deceit. “O my people,” said Isaiah in the Book of Mormon, “they who lead thee cause thee to err and destroy the way of thy paths.” (2 Ne. 13:12.) Even within the Church we have been warned that “the ravening wolves are amongst us, from our own membership, and they, more than any others, are clothed in sheep’s clothing, because they wear the habiliments of the priesthood.”

Joseph Smith warned the Saints to use the Scriptures as a guide by which to judge truth:

I hope you will search the Scriptures to see whether these things are not also consistent with those things which the ancient Prophets and Apostles have written.

Joseph Smith HC 1:442

O ye Twelve! And all Saints! Profit by this important Key—that in all your trials, troubles, temptations, afflictions, bonds, imprisonments and death, see to it…that you do not betray the revelations of God, whether in the Bible, Book of Mormon, or Doctrine and Covenants, or any other that ever was or ever will be given and revealed unto man in this world or that which is to come.

Joseph Smith HC 3:385

Nephi also explained the scriptures were prepared by the Lord to guide His people:

1 Nephi 19:3, 18, 23
3 And after I had made these plates by way of commandment, I, Nephi, received a commandment that the ministry and the prophecies, the more plain and precious parts of them, should be written upon these plates; and that the things which were written should be kept for the instruction of my people, who should possess the land, and also for other wise purposes, which purposes are known unto the Lord.
18 And I, Nephi, have written these things unto my people, that perhaps I might persuade them that they would remember the Lord their Redeemer.
23 And I did read many things unto them which were written in the books of Moses; but that I might more fully persuade them to believe in the Lord their Redeemer. Wherefore, I did read unto them that which was written by the prophet Isaiah; for I did liken all scriptures unto us, that it might be for our profit and learning. JST

Perhaps the most important lessons we have about God’s preparation of the Scriptures, and the true value He places on them, is found within two Book of Mormon stories. The first is the fact that the Father commanded Lehi to send his sons back to get the plate of Brass. They needed those records so that the people would not be led astray in the wilderness. We come to understand the eternal significance of what God had prepared, when we see that Nephi was commanded to take Laban’s life so they might obtain those sacred records.

We clearly see the stark differences in outcomes of not having the Scriptures to guide the people, verses having them, when after much time, the people of Nephi find the Mulekites. The people of Muleki came out of Jerusalem shortly after the Nephites. Unlike the Nephites, they carried no records. As a sad result, their language had been corrupted. But even worse than that, they did not know God. They did not know His commandments, or how the children of Men had been guided by Him, or even the very origins of people.

If we consider the revealed scriptures to be our anchor, we begin to understand the dangers of cutting that rope that ties our boat to that anchor. Then, we on the boat would be tossed on a sea, far from the anchor from which we have power.

Teaching the people, as Elder Benson did, that we should judge all things by the Captain, is separating the Church from the anchor in a stunning way. When we consider the additional counsel given from that pulpit, multiple times, that a living Prophet is more important than a dead Prophet, an honest soul should feel a sense of alarm at the ties to those words of the Lord are cut. That good ship Zion is floating free of that anchor, and it is a tragic thing.

God’s words must be preserved and adhered to in these Latter Days. They are the Iron Rod that Lehi saw in his dream. I pray we hearken unto God, and hold to the rod He has prepared with all our might.

The Miracle of the Reed Family in the Donner Party Tragedy

Most of us are familiar with the Donner/Reed expedition to California by a small group of pioneers in 1847. After many delays, the group was caught in a snowstorm just shy of the peak of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The snow was relentless, and the snow was soon so deep, there was little hope of continuing the journey for some time.

They built shanties for protection. They began killing their livestock for food. It was a desperate situation, and before the first group of rescuers arrived in February of 1848, the lack of food had driven many to cannibalism of those that had died.

James and Margaret Reed

James Reed had been expelled from the wagon train prior to the great snowstorms. His wife, Margaret, and their four small children suffered through that terrible winter. Margaret showed such incredible strength and courage in the face of dire circumstances. Her Christian faith motivated her to a rock solid determination that neither she or her children would eat human flash, no matter the cost.

The hunger they suffered was beyond description, but that decision was made and kept. That decision, based upon a moral compass few have, did not go unnoticed by the God of all. Only the family of Ulster-born James Reed came through without losing a family member and without ever succumbing to cannibalism.

The Reed family lived their Christianity in a way few ever have, to their very extremities, while resisting the path chosen by the rest. The Lord blessed them in a remarkable way, by preserving every member in their family. It is truly a miracle from heaven that deserves to be known.

Thank God we have all got through and the only family that did not eat human flesh,’ 13-year-old Virginia Reed wrote to a cousin back in Illinois.

Why “Our Lady of Fatima” and 3 Portuguese Children Matter Today, 105 Years Later

Throughout the history of time, we have seen God working through children to bring to pass amazing things in the world. David, the shepherd, took a small stone and a sling, and conquered a giant. Samuel heard the voice of God call him in the night. Daniel was kidnapped as a child, as were Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They asked for different food than the rest of the boys. We also see God’s blessings on Esther, Joan of Arc, and countless others. It is easy to discern that God performs miracles with children.

One particularly fascinating example of this, is the 1917 account of three youngsters who were tending sheep in Fatima, Portugal. A heavenly woman came down in a cloud and instructed Lúcia dos Santos and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto. They were told to come every month, for six months, on the same day and at the same time, where she would meet them and teach them what she would have them do. Their story became big news, and soon tens of thousands of people joined them at the meeting place. They were also persecuted greatly by unbelievers, in spite of their tender years.

The children plead with the Lady to manifest herself to the crowds, so that they would be believed. They were told that would happen at the meeting in October. On that day, 10s of thousands gathered around the hill where the meeting would take place. What happened next, became front page news around the world. The massive crowd witnessed the sun turning different colors, and then falling from the sky toward them, before rising back to its rightful place.

Was this the purpose of those monthly visits? No. The children were given three secrets to share later, which would help change the world for the better. Two were shared soon after. The third was to be read to the world by the 1960 Pope. The children were warned, that if that particular Pope did not read that message there would be great trouble. The Lady said, “If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred; the Holy Father will have much to suffer; various nations will be annihilated. In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she shall be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world.”

The Pope refused to read the third message in 1960. But, eventually at least a portion was published by the Vatican in June 2020.

The third part of the secret revealed at the Cova da Iria-Fátima, on 13 July 1917.
I write in obedience to you, my God, who command me to do so through his Excellency the Bishop of Leiria and through your Most Holy Mother and mine.
After the two parts which I have already explained, at the left of Our Lady and a little above, we saw an Angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but they died out in contact with the splendour that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand: pointing to the earth with his right hand, the Angel cried out in a loud voice: ‘Penance, Penance, Penance!’. And we saw in an immense light that is God, something similar to how people appear in a mirror when they pass in front of it, a Bishop dressed in White. We had the impression that it was the Holy Father. Other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious going up a steep mountain, at the top of which there was a big Cross of rough-hewn trunks as of a cork-tree with the bark; before reaching there the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions. Beneath the two arms of the Cross there were two Angels each with a crystal aspersorium in his hand, in which they gathered up the blood of the Martyrs and with it sprinkled the souls that were making their way to God.

Because of the failure of the Pope, in 1960, we have seen much trouble with Russia since that time. Russia was not converted, and there wasn’t peace. The Russian bear spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. We are still seeing the unfolding of this prophecy in our day. Because Russia was not warned by the Pope, and did not convert, The good will be martyred; the Holy Father will have much to suffer; various nations will be annihilated. Only after all that death and suffering, will we be blessed by deliverance from God, and enjoy peace once more.

It is an incredible story that needs to be shared. I invite you to watch the 1952 movie about their experience and the miracles that occurred.

Rainbow Promises Hidden: The Rest of Story of What God Told Noah After the Flood

Every Christian child is taught the story of the great flood, with Noah and his ark. The story captured the imaginations of millions of children, down through time, as they learned that God covenanted with Noah that He would not flood the earth again. The icing on the cake was the sign in the heavens promised. Whenever a believer sees a rainbow in the sky, it is likely that promise comes to mind. It is also taught that in the year the rainbow didn’t appear, God would come again. The King James version describes it in this way:

Genesis 9 12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: 13 I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” 17 God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.

For eons of time, that is all we knew of the story. So, when I came upon additional revelation regarding God’s promise related to the rainbow, I was excited to share. It comes from Joseph Smith’s 1833 translation of the Bible. And is found at

JST, Genesis 9:21–25.
God sets the rainbow in heaven as a reminder of His covenant to Enoch and to Noah. In the last days the general assembly of the Church of the Firstborn will join the righteous on earth.
21 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant, which I made unto thy father Enoch; that, when men should keep all my commandments, Zion should again come on the earth, the city of Enoch which I have caught up unto myself.
22 And this is mine everlasting covenant, that when thy posterity shall embrace the truth, and look upward, then shall Zion look downward, and all the heavens shall shake with gladness, and the earth shall tremble with joy;
23 And the general assembly of the church of the firstborn shall come down out of heaven, and possess the earth, and shall have place until the end come. And this is mine everlasting covenant, which I made with thy father Enoch.
24 And the bow shall be in the cloud, and I will establish my covenant unto thee, which I have made between me and thee, for every living creature of all flesh that shall be upon the earth.
25 And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant which I have established between me and thee; for all flesh that shall be upon the earth.

In the Joseph Smith Papers, we find the heading of this chapter describes the content as “the covenant which God made to Noah & when the City of Enoch should come down out of Heaven, &c. &c.”

I love that this prophecy declares that when we keep of of God’s commandments, Zion will come again upon the earth. It is magnificent that there will soon be a people who embrace the truth and look upward, while Zion looks down, and the heavens will shake with gladness, while the joyful earth trembles!

To me, the glorious additions, written by the Prophet of the Restoration, should be taught far and wide. Share the good news!

Why do we need to apply scriptures unto ourselves?

Nephi: “… but that I might more fully persuade them to believe in the Lord their Redeemer, I did read unto them that which was written by the prophet Isaiah; for I did liken all scriptures unto us, that it might be for our profit and learning. Wherefore I spake unto them saying: Hear ye the words of the prophet, ye who are a remnant of the house of Israel… hear ye the words of the prophet, which were written unto the house of Israel, and liken them unto yourselves, that ye may have hope…” 1 Nephi 19:23-24

Jesus: “And now, behold, I say unto you, that ye ought to search these things. Yea, a commandment I give unto you that ye search these things diligently; for great are the words of Isaiah. For surely he spake as touching all things concerning my people which are of the house of Israel; therefore it must needs be that he must speak also to the Gentiles. And all things that he spake have been and shall be, even according to the words which he spake.

Therefore give heed to my words; write the things which I have told you; and according to the time and the will of the Father they shall go forth unto the Gentiles. And whosoever will hearken unto my words and repenteth and is baptized, the same shall be saved. Search the prophets, for many there be that testify of these things.” 3 Nephi 23:1-5

Isaiah: “Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the Lord hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me. The ox knoweth his owner, and the donkey his master’s crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider. Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the Lord, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers. And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city. Except the Lord of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah. Hear the word of the Lord, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.

To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the Lord: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats. When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts? Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them. And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers. Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water: Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

Therefore saith the Lord, the Lord of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies: And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin: And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.

Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness. And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the Lord shall be consumed. For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen. For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water. And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them.” Isaiah 1

It turns out that even though I quoted directly from the scriptures, I made a mistake. The first part of the quote from Nephi should be ” “… but that I might more fully persuade them to believe in the Lord their Redeemer. Wherefore, I did read unto them that which was written by the prophet Isaiah..”The current Book of Mormon is not correct. You can see that in the attached image, someone crossed out “Wherefore” in the 1840 Book of Mormon. Does it change the meaning? It certainly does! Nephi wanted to persuade his people to believe in Christ. The solution was Isaiah. He was not casually picking some prophet from the scriptures as the current Book of Mormon implies. Nephi chose Isaiah was because he knew the “greatness” of his words, as verified by Christ in 3rd Nephi. He knew the pure doctrine taught by Isaiah, had the power to convert souls unto Christ. It is a shameful thing that the Church has relegated the words of Isaiah to the realm of “not for discussion” like Doctrine and Covenants 132.…/book-of-mormon-1840/56

From a Rare Case in UK to a Massachusetts Man: Monkeypox Should be on Your Radar

A May 7th article from Skynews announced that a UK Monkeypox case had been diagnosed in a man that had recently flown in from Nigeria. Usually, hard to transmit, human to human, investigators have found unrelated transmission growing in England. It was a day or two before Portugal and Spain also announced cases of this usually rare disease. Today, 18 May 2022, the CDC announced they were watching 7 US travelers who were on the same flight as the first UK case. Later in the day, they indicated one Massachusetts man has been diagnosed with the disease. He was not one of the 7 being watched. He had recently flown in from Canada. Shortly after that news, Canada announced it is been tracking their own clusters.

This is looking like the real deal. I recommend stocking up on Sarracenia Purpurea if you can find any. That is a plant the Native Americans used to treat Smallpox way back when.

The Bible indicates that God will bring plagues and pestilences in the last days, to try to humble the people. Renewing or strengthening your relationship with Him, will help in navigating storms like this.

The governments will lock down harder than any other time in history. And vaccine refusers will be faced with choices that will be reminiscent of Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego.

Hang in there. Don’t let your life become a paradigm of fear. Those are chains that are used so adeptly by those that are transforming the world. Break through those barriers to faith in God. He is the ultimate answer.
